What is Amateur Radio?

"Amateur radio (also called ham radio) is the use of designated radio frequency spectrum for purposes of private recreation, non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, and emergency communication. The term "amateur" is used to specify persons interested in radio technique solely with a personal aim and without pecuniary interest, and to differentiate it from commercial broadcasting, public safety (such as police and fire), or professional two-way radio services (such as maritime, aviation, taxis, etc.)." - Wikipedia

"Ham radio is the only hobby in which you can be an inventor, a collector, an emergency worker, an athlete, an engineer, a radio show host,
a scaler of heights, a teacher and mentor, an astronomer, and a geophysicist. All at the same time. It remains the most powerful and flexible
means of communication available to the private citizen in the world." - Unknown

Over the past 30 years we have had over 637 hams or want to be hams make membership application to LCRC.  As it was you, who made this club what it is today, we would like to extend our invitation to you and your family to join us and help us celebrate our 30th Year as a Radio Club in the River Bend Area and / Madison Co.

We would like to see you and shake your hand, see what you have been up to, over the past 30 years, a place where you can sit down and partake of ( hotdogs, brats, hamburgers, all the trimmings and a refreshing drink ), and just have a good old fashioned “EYEBALL”.  By the way this is not a Medical Term as most Hams will know what an “Eyeball” is.

We are planning on having a Special Event Station “On Site”, where you can operate if you would like, join in on the fun and maybe QSO with some old friends you haven’t talked to for a spell, and who knows what else or who else might show up.
